Vladimir Zhirinovksy is currently involved in Russian politics. He is a leader in Russia and seeking more power. Vladimir is a very charismatic leader and his views rival Hitler's and Stalin's. One of his books is called "My Struggle" and some have compared it to "Mein Kampf" (which means "My Struggle" in German) and called it more of a manifesto than an autobiography.

Modern, biblical scholars who enjoy speculating about prophetic events know the name Vladimir Zhirinovsky. Why? In Ezekiel 38 and 39, God's Word tells us about an invasion from a country (Magog) in the far North of Israel. This outspoken leader (Gog) could be the man (Vladimir) who leads this invasion.

Have you looked at a map of the Middle East, Europe and Asia? Have you found Israel? How about Moscow? Russia is obviously and specifically due North of Israel.

Further, this country will launch and lead a surprise attack against Israel and the opposing countries will be defeated. Read Ezekiel 38 and 39. Here is an online Bible: http://bible.jcsm.org.

Russia has sold many weapons to Iraq. Iraq is aligned against Israel and the United States. Russia is being diplomatic with the U.S. and basically staying out of Israeli affairs (or so it appears).

Ezekiel 38 and 39 tells us how "Gog" will lead the country of "Magog" and several other countries into a battle against Israel. They will use some weapons that appear to be nuclear or chemical weapons. Apparently, according to the scriptures, these weapons malfunction, kill the people using them and cause a serious mess. The area can't even be cleaned for 7 months.

Recently, I've read some awesome books on these prophetic events. "The Magog Invasion", by Chuck Missler, was an enlightening resource. This book went into great detail to show how Noah's sons migrated into different parts of the world and how their descendants became the modern-day countries we see, today. One of these sons went into the far North. In the Bible, they were known as barbarians or Scythians.

Missler's book also gave great information about the current climate of Russia and it's allies. I read the whole book in a matter of days. It's not fanatical or anything; just a solid book on the current situation and the prophetic scriptures.

Here are a few interesting things about Vlad and Gog.

Vladimir has written a book called, "The Last March to the South". He wants to expand Russia's borders to include the shores of the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean.

Proverb 30:27 says that the locusts have no king. Why is this significant?

Amos 7:1 reads, "Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings."

Wow, that didn't sound too impressive, did it?

Chuck Missler was up late one night and studying the scriptures. As he was studying, he found a passage in the Greek Septuagint that pointed to something awesome. Something had been lost and changed in the English translations.

In the Greek Septuagint, Amos 7:1 reads, "Thus the Lord showed me, and behold a swarm of locusts were coming, and behold, one of the young devastating locusts was Gog, the King."

These locusts aren't natural locusts. These locusts are referring to demons and Gog is their king. Spooky? Not really. Just like God's angels are ranked in a hierarchy, so are the devil's fallen angels and demons.

Regular locusts don't have a king, but these supernatural ones do; and their king is Gog.

Lastly, there is a mentioning of Gog and Magog leading a rebellion after the Millennium (see Revelation 20:8)! This has puzzled commentators. However, if Gog is a demon king, this reveals how he could be present in the Old Testament, today and in the future!

Along with Chuck Missler's book, I read a great book called, "Zhirinovksy: The Man Who Would Be Gog", by Scot Overbey. This book outlined Vladimir's history. His past is full of holes. It's hard to put a finger on where he came from. His birth certificate can't be found and either can his father's.

Scot Overbey is a Dallas Theological Seminary graduate, so I trust his work. He has written some other, legitimate works, too. In this book, he revealed Vladimir's past, but also revealed many things he has said, his influence with the KGB, why he's appealing to Russians and much more.

No matter what you think about prophecy or Gog and Magog, read the Bible and research the person of Jesus Christ. He is God's Son and He died for your sins. He also was raised from the dead to give us eternal life in Heaven!
